lookinglately is an award-winning design studio founded in 1998 in New York and Zurich by Marion Delhees and Achim Wieland. We focus on research and content development for a diverse clientele, ranging from cultural institutions, universities and international publishers to global players in the private sector. We offer a highly conceptual and content-driven approach to create unique design solutions across all media. From books and magazines, identity and branding, to signage and exhibition design.
Swiss Designer and Educator Marion Delhees brings together over 20 years of practical design experience with new methodologies for collaboration in education. As a partner of lookinglately she concentrates on research and concept development, creative processes and strategic planning.
Marion has been educated in Switzerland, the US and the Netherlands, beginning her studies in architecture and continuing in graphic design. She holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (USA) and a MFA from the Jan van Eyck Academie (Netherlands). Before co-founding ‘lookinglately’ she established the in-house design department at the Whitney Museum of American Art, worked for a variety of art institutions like the Andy Warhol Museum, Bronx Museum, Swiss Institute New York, Dia Art Foundation, among others and realized design, video and multi-media projects for international exhibitions and publications.
For her various teaching assignments, she develops and teaches courses in visual communication, identity design und branding, social design, design for all and collaborative methods at Rhode Island School of Design (USA), University of Gothenburg (Sweden), Hochschule Luzern, F+F School of Art and Design and Zurich Department of Education (Switzerland) for Highschool, Bachelor and Master students.
Based in Switzerland, German Artist/Designer Achim Wieland is a lookinglately partner and published author/dramaturge. His approach to visual communication is fueled by 25 years of teaching and design practice through narrative methods and content development. His focus at lookinglately are storytelling strategies and editorial content ideation, visual identity systems and art direction.
Achim holds a Masters Degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and has taught and lectured throughout Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Clients and projects include work for the Guggenheim Museum, Harvard University or the J. Paul Getty Museum Los Angeles and his work has been awarded and exhibited at the American Center for Design (ACD) Chicago, Cultural Capital of Europe/Cyprus, Museum of Contemporary Arts Thessaloniki, among others. He is a founding member of SRSLYyours, a group of international writers, visual artists, performers and dramaturges devoted to an inclusive content development process around socio-political themes.
He held teaching positions in the Design Department and Graduate Program at the Rhode Island School of Design (USA), HWZ (Switzerland), VCU/Q (Qatar), F+F School for Media/Design Zurich and the University of Nicosia (Cyprus). He conducts workshops and gives lectures internationally, curates and exhibits independent art projects, and travels his work as director and performance maker on stages throughout Europe.
